The new hit show, 13 Reasons Why, is being taken off of Netflix because of a vicious lawsuit
There have been many complaints about how the show promotes and glorifies suicide and how it can trigger people into doing it themselves
This has gone as far as one girl copying Hannah baker’s, the main character, suicide
Andrea Heatherstone, a 15 year old girl, committed suicide on April 16, 2017 leaving tapes blaming people why she killed herself
Andrea’s parent’ are suing Netflix for the content of their show that makes suicide seem like no big deal.
Andrea’s mom states, “This show gave our daughter, who was already diagnosed with depression, the idea to commit suicide.”
Netflix has decided to take the show off even though it is their most popular new series as we can see from Instyle http://www.instyle.com/reviews-coverage/tv-shows/13-reasons-why-most-popular-netflix-show.
The CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, states, “After hearing of this tragedy that has occurred from our show we have decided to take if off of Netflix. We don’t want anyone else to get hurt.”
Katherine Langford is mortified that someone would copy her character’s suicide
Katherine stated, “I can’t believe this is happening. I wouldn’t ever expect in a million years that someone would commit suicide from the show.”
The rest of the cast is devastated that their show would be taken off of Netflix.
Selena Gomez, executive producer, is very upset that the show is being taken off because as seen in this interview she seems very happy and excited for the show to be airing https://youtu.be/q345BeXQUhE
In an interview she made with celeb uncover she said, “It is truly heart breaking that the show has caused a suicide. The exact reason for the show was that of the opposite.”
Further updates on the lawsuit will be made after it appears in court
